Capullo de Jerez

Miguel Flores Quirós, known as Capullo de Jerez in the flamenco world, is one of the most unique singers remaining in the current artistic landscape. He was born on Cantarería Street, in the heart of Barrio De Santiago, where he began and was trained from a very young age in the world of singing. He matured as an artist in the also Jerez neighborhood of Asunción, alongside the sadly missed Fernando Terremoto Hijo. Few flamencos today have the mastery of rhythm that Capullo has, nor his ability to always perfectly square the tercios. A recognized admirer of Tío Borrico, Terremoto, la Paquera, and Sordera de Jerez, he shared endless parties and evenings with Juan Moneo el Torta, Luis de la Pica, and his inseparable Periquín Niño Jero. Perhaps for all these reasons, Capullo de Jerez is an absolutely unique singer and very difficult to categorise. In his discography, titles such as “Éste soy yo”, “Flor y Canela”, “Capullo en Directo”, or “Bulerías al aire” stand out, as well as his brilliant interpretation of the Andalusian anthem by bulerías, accompanied on guitar by Maestro Paco de Lucía. He has possibly reached his peak, after more than four decades as a professional under his belt. To experience his singing up close and in an intimate space, is an experience hard to forget.
