ANTONIA MERCÉ “LA ARGENTINA” THROUGH HER 78 RPM RECORDS AND ICONOGRAPHY
Carlos Martín Ballester, a specialist in sound heritage and digitization and restoration of 78 rpm records and phonograph cylinders, as well as director of the prestigious Carlos Martín Ballester Collection, will take us through the listening of 78 rpm records into the history of an essential artist for flamenco dance, Antonia Mercé y Luque, “La Argentina,” and will show us through different iconography, the undeniable personality of this dancer, bailaora, and legend of dance and flamenco dance. The italicised text preceding the title of this conference is taken from another that Federico García Lorca dedicated to La Argentina, a fact that demonstrates the importance and interest that this artist has always aroused.
This educational conference will be held at the Katakark bookstore, on August 30th, at 1:30 p.m. Access is free until full capacity is reached.
