Gema Moneo

The dancer Gema Moneo was born in Jerez de la Frontera, within an important flamenco dynasty, “Los Moneo”. She began her first training with local artists and within her own family, later expanding her knowledge and specialising alongside leading figures of contemporary flamenco dance. Although she began her professional career at only 13 years old in tablaos and flamenco clubs, given her enormous personality and talent, she soon began to be in demand in the main venues of the national and international circuit. Upon reaching adulthood, she joined and began to travel regularly with the dance company of Farruquito, with whom she debuted at the Flamenco Biennial of Seville and toured for the first time in Argentina and Chile. In 2018, she was distinguished with the Revelation Artist Award at the XXII Festival de Jerez. A secret that perhaps not everyone knows is that Gema Moneo, in addition to dancing, sings and plays the guitar extremely well. In fact, her perseverance and self-confidence have led her to carve out a niche in the current flamenco scene, where she is equally respected and valued by critics and the public. But above all, she is unconditionally admired by her own colleagues, who consider her “an artist of artists”.
