José Carlos Gómez

José Carlos Gómez was born in the town of Algeciras in Cádiz in 1972. Under the guidance of Salvador Andrades, he received the keys to the Algeciras guitar school, which he himself received from Francisco Sánchez Pecino. At the age of sixteen, he not only accompanied singers like Canela de San Roque but also offered solo concerts in London and Paris. His artistic progression at that time was such that Pepe de Lucía himself called him to work with Potito. That experience allowed him to meet and live with guitarists like Tomatito and Moraíto Chico. A few years later, he joined the National Ballet of Spain as a guitarist, alongside Luis Habichuela and José María Bandera, and even composed the music for some works in the ballet’s repertoire, as well as some pieces from the shows “Sabores” and “Carmen” by Sara Baras. Throughout his professional career, he has been fortunate to work with artists such as Duquende, Niña Pastori, Marina Heredia, El Pele, La Tana, La Susi, Armando Manzanero, Miguel Poveda, Pastora Soler, or Alejandro Sanz. Among his albums and compositions for concert guitar, “Origen,” (Origin) “Pasaje Andaluz” (Andalusian landscape) and “Las Huellas de Dios” (The footprints of God) stand out.
