Remedios Reyes and Julio Romero Santiago
Remedios Reyes is a cantaora (flamenco singer) from Chiclana who was previously a bailaora (flamenco dancer) in the companies of Manuel Morao and Sara Baras. Sister of Antonio Reyes (also a cantaor) from Chiclana, she has lived flamenco in her house from a very young age through family ascendants such as Roque Montoya “Jarrito” on the maternal side, and José Cortés “Pansequito” on the paternal side. She then begins her solo career as a cantaora, having the fortune to perform in all the flamenco clubs of the Spanish geography and to share the bill with all the figures of the moment in the most prestigious festivals. She stands out for her festive style, as in all her performances she sings and also dances, showing the audience her racial forms and flamencura as an expression. For all this, she comes to Pamplona to revalidate her status as an artist in every sense of the word. Without being a leading figure, she dazzles more than many who surpass her in popularity. And while some hide in tricks, Remedios gives herself every time she steps on stage. The Chiclana native will be seconded on guitar by the Ubeda native Julio Romero Santiago, an accomplished accompanist to the singing who usually relieves with falsetas full of clean arpeggios and alzapúas, as well as very well-defined strumming and picking.
